Are there good collard greens here?

Yes, cooked with fatback I think. Definitely not veggie!

What is the carb count in your absolutely delicious BBQ?

Meat does not contain carbohydrates, if you just order pulled pork without a bun thats 0 carb.

Are you still making hot dogs?

We sure do. We’re only making enough for the Pig and Deli Edison right now but hope to get back to selling them at Weaver Street ASAP.

How do you prepare your pulled pork? Is it a vinegar base? Or a Smokey sweet?

Vinegar base

is it likely to be busy at 6'30 tonight? pco

I've driven by this place for over a year and just went in for the first time recently. The prices are about what you would expect in chapel Hill, the meats are great. I had the bologna and brisket both were amazing. Their hush puppies are a strange funnlecake shape but they taste great, like a crunchy outside and a soft savory inside. I didn't like their pickled appetizer as much as the meats, was a little sweet which could just be I wasn't expecting it. The store is much smaller inside than expected but NC weather is usually nice enough that if the place ever got busy you could sit outside comfortably. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed. I'll probably go again if I'm looking for good BBQ.

A little something for everyone, including vegans! The Pig sources their meat from local, sustainable sources. As with almost all NC BBQ joints, go for the pork, not the beef. If they have it, though, the smoked chicken is not to be missed.

Very good first time experience ... the food was extremely good and the service was just good enough ... each item I had was just a hair different than most other "bbq" spot which was to me the best part ... Macaroni and cheese was more smokey than "cheesy" ... they offered a gose style beer which is my favorite ... fries were a little "soft" but good ... fried green tomatoes awesome ... wasn't a big fan of the molasses based bbq sauce but it didnt detract...so overall good stuff

Cute decor, great food! I got the large smoked, glazed, grilled chicken with slaw, hush puppies, fries and sliced vinegar cucumbers for $15. It was all delicious. Definitely want to try the pork, ribs, fried catfish and fried green tomatoes. Right off Weaver Dairy Rd, Chapel Hill/Carrboro. Open M-Sat 11-9. Mmm, mmm, good.

The Pig is a local favorite that would compete well in almost any location. A creative menu that varies daily. Lots of smoked meat choices and also conventional choices as well.Soups, sandwiches, delicious unexpected offerings too are on the large menu board over the cashiers head. The staff is enthusiastic, the service quick and the food good. Hard to beat that!

I don't like barbecue but I went with a group of people. I ordered a BLT. I didn't even like the taste of the bacon. I ate it because I was hungry not because it was good. I absolutely love salty things! This bacon was too salty for me. The staff couldn't have been more pleasant! It was a pleasant environment in which to eat with friends. It seemed that all of my friends enjoyed their food. They all ate BBQ

Great local small restaurant. They make their own barbecue and other meats. They cure and prepare on site. Best pastrami on rye south of N.Y.C. They have good vegetarian selections too. There is a bar attached to it where you can get served drinks and their food at same time.

Great local spot next to East! Excellent cue, East Carolina vinegar and Western tomato. Great sides, super selection of beer, sides, wine and a wide variety of menu choices. My best advice is to read the menu before you go, way more than good BBQ.

Fried green tomatoes, fried okra, and fried squash, oh my! I can feel myself getting fatter, but it was worth it. The food here is the best. Casual dining at it's most casual, be prepared to DIY at this place. Go up and put in your own order, grab your own drinks and silverware, and clean up after yourself when you are done. Luckily they don't have you cooking your own food too, because whoever they have doing that certainly knows what they are doing! It can get a bit pricey, so if you looking for BBQ on a budget this might not be the place to go, but if you are willing to splurge a bit, I assure you it is worth every penny.

I ordered the ribs which were not very good. The meat was very fatty and not tender I returned it for the rib tips, which was much better. My friends had the gumbo, which was delicious. The mac and cheese and beef brisket were also very good.

Best BBQ in the area. There is a better known BBQ joint not far from here, but they have never lived up to the hype. The Pig has no hype but great food. They smoke their own cheese from the BBQ pit and use it to make mac n cheese! The pork is cooked hot enough to give it a good flavorful crust that is mixed into to the pulled pork. It's best to bring a friend and split a sides plate so that you can try a few with your meat.

Delicious, not pretentious, and friendly neighborhood bbq joint. The pimento cheese fries are to die for, and the fried green tomatoes are the best in town. Their pickles are addictive so watch out! So far everything we've tried has been spectacular. Especially if you hit it on a day when cheese grits and/or the pastrami are on special. Pictured are pork tongue tacos, catfish plate, and cheese fries.

Not the best BBQ I have had, it was just OK. Very mushy texture on all the veggies and the mac and cheese was bland. Not a fan. Relaxed atmosphere. but the price didn't reflect the vibe. Just meh. Old Time BBQ in Raleigh has this place beat hands down.

Great locally sourced food. Everything seems to be made in house. It's short order and the prices are higher than what you'd expect at a local bbq joint, but I still find myself coming back.

Good selection. Good food. Reasonable prices. Friendly gal at the counter. The BBQ sandwich is as good as I've had since moving to NC. The sweet sauce is very good. The "industrial strength" hot sauce is Texas Pete's, i.e. flavored vinegar; nothing Texan or hot about it.

The brisket was dry like it had been sitting out for a day. The portion was so small and the price was way to high. I paid 18.54 for food that I just threw away. It was totally unacceptable. Will never eat here again and definately wont recommend this establishment.

Laid back vibe, that tries to kill with delicious food. Oh so good! Had a pastrami on rye and some fried green tomatoes. Tasted some of the brisket off of my wife's plate and some fried okra from my son's plate and they were soooo good! I am not a sweet pickle fan but these were fresh and not too sweet and retained a hint of the original cucumber again soooo good! Caveat, taste is subjective so mileage may vary. I eat to live not live to eat that said I do like good food and this is one of those places.

Very good food. I especially love the gumbo. It is excellent. (It is not easy to find a restaurant that makes good gumbo. Believe me, I have tried.) I don't live in Chapel Hill, but I come here to eat when I am in town.

Me and my family were visiting Chapel Hill and we were looking for a good place to eat. We saw some good reviews and it didn't dissapoint! We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and the seasoned fried okra. Our only complaint would be that there aren't the best kid friendly options. Other than that we would definitely recommend this place 👍

Dropped by after walking in the park across the street. The cashier recommended the pastrami Reuben which they smoked there. It was excellent; even made with Russian dressing and not Thousand Island. Best Reuben I've had in NC in years! I'll be back to try more of their menu.

The BEST Italian Grinder, ever!! My coworker turned me on to the place when I ate the BEST ribs at his BBQ, last year!! I had forgotten about this place until he said he was bringing some ribs to the office party next week!! I couldn't wait!! Yes, I bought half rack ribs for dinner tonight and had half sandwich and added chips for lunch!! Now, the sandwich isn't on the menu but it's on the board inside restaurant!! Absolutely, mouthwatering delicious and flavorful!! 😁👍
